Hope Lecturer discusses US gun culture on Radio MerseysideThursday 27 August 2015
American gun culture and the right to bear arms were discussed on BBC Radio Merseyside by visiting Lecturer in International Relations Dr Evan Lawrence.
In the wake of yesterday’s fatal shooting of a journalist and cameraman in Virginia, radio presenter Andy Ball interviewed Dr Lawrence to find out how gun laws differ in each state and the process for purchasing a firearm.
Dr Lawrence, who is a specialist in terrorism, peace studies and conflict resolution, explained how the US gun lobby and Constitutional right to bear arms are a challenge to gun law reforms.
Listen to the interview here from 50:10 to 56:30.
