Hope Lecturer transforms bus into moving art for Liverpool BiennialTuesday 13 September 2016
Artwork designed by Liverpool Hope University Lecturer Frances Disley has transformed a bus into a moving work of art, as part of Liverpool Biennial 2016.
Her piece Blaze is inspired by Liverpool-born Eunice Huthart, who appeared on the 90s TV show Gladiators before becoming a ‘Gladiator’ herself.
It depicts the artist as a painted character with the power to blend into her own artwork.
The bus is one of three double-deckers transformed as part of a new three-year commission partnership between Liverpool Biennial and Arriva.
Travelling routes around Liverpool and the Wirral, the buses feature commentary on the artwork and will run throughout the Biennial celebrations and beyond.
Liverpool Biennial 2016, is a festival of contemporary art that explores the landscape of the city through exhibitions and events held across Liverpool’s galleries and public spaces.
