Hope students perform at Central Library opera exhibitionTuesday 22 November 2016
Current and past Hope students performed at the Carl Rosa Symposium and Exhibition launch held at Central Library in Liverpool.
The private event saw delegates given a tour of the archive and a chance to look at material in the Library’s collection.
Following the opening of the Carl Opera Company Exhibition, students from Hope performed in a special lecture-recital about the archive.
Professor Stephen Pratt, Head of Music at Hope, said: “It is certainly good news for the city’s reputation in the arts that this important archive is here, and good that the trust has chosen to highlight this in this way.
“I received an enquiry from the Carl Rosa Trust in the summer to see if we would be interested in collaborating for this event.
“We identified singers, both current and former students, who would be appropriate and two piano students also performed a duet with music from the archive.”
The Carl Rosa Opera is a unique touring company dedicated to making light opera accessible to a wide audience.
It aims to ‘inspire, entertain and educate as many people as possible through artistic excellence’.
