Lecturer in Music nominated for composition prize

Lecturer in Music, Dr Manuella Blackburn, has been nominated for a prize at the biannual Metamorphoses composition competition to be held in October 2012.

Her work, Switched, will be published on the Musiques and Recherches CD label and performed in concert in the 'Espace du son' festival in Brussels.

This is the seventh biannual competition for acousmatic composition. Acousmatic music is a form of electroacoustic music that is specifically composed for loudspeaker presentation. Unlike scored music, compositions that are purely acousmatic exist solely as audio recordings (as fixed media) and are often intended for concert reception via multiple loudspeakers.

Dr Blackburn said: "I'm very excited about this prestigious nomination and I look forward to the performance of my piece in the Espace du son festival in Brussels in October."
