Liverpool Hope ranked fifth in the UK for teaching qualityMonday 23 May 2016
Liverpool Hope University is ranked fifth in the UK for Teaching Quality by The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016.
Dr Penny Haughan, Dean of Students, said: “At Hope our students are at the heart of everything that we do. Alongside an excellent academic experience, students receive support from our outstanding student support and well-being teams. We have a commitment to knowing every student as an individual and not just as a number. As part of this experience we strive to give our students a voice throughout their studies."
The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide uses the results of the National Student Survey (NSS) and double-weights student responses on teaching quality over those that look at the wider student experience; Liverpool Hope does almost equally well on both.
Liverpool Hope is also in the top 10 of all universities for the percentage of academic staff with doctorates*. More than half of the eligible staff were entered for the 2014 research ratings, the Research Excellence Framework — far more than at most post-1992 universities.
Professor Gerald Pillay, Vice Chancellor & Rector of Liverpool Hope University, said: “We are an ambitious university, and and we have a firm foundation on which we are continuing to build. We are investing in the future of our students and the city with new facilities and a focus on research-informed teaching. Small group teaching allows our students access to top academics and insights into their often world-leading research, which all adds to the overall student experience.”
The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016 is published over the course of three days, beginning on September 2015. A separate analysis of student satisfaction with the quality of the teaching at each institution is published for the first time this year.
