The Students’ Union at Liverpool Hope has been named National Union of Students ‘Small Students’ Union of the year’ in the 2012 NUS Awards.

Recognising the Union’s achievement, the NUS wrote: ‘Presented with a number of challenges this year, the team at Liverpool Hope Students’ Union have worked tirelessly to ensure they can provide the best services for their students.

‘This has included writing their first vision statement, passing a constitution that puts students at the heart and working with other local unions to campaign on local issues.’

Rachael O’Byrne, President of the Hope Student’s Union, said: "I am delighted that the Students' Union has won this prestigious award. It is a testament to the hard work of officers, staff and students.

"I want to thank everyone that has got Hope SU to this point, past and present. This year the Students' Union has been on a remarkable journey, as we've gone into the unknown from forums to the new society framework, students have been with us every step of the way.

"I have no doubt that this is an indication that the SU will only continue to get better and better."
