design show 2015 Friday 29 May 2015

The next generation of Liverpool Hope University artists and designers will showcase their work at the 2015 Fine Art and Design Degree Show.

The Degree Show will be held at the University’s Creative Campus on Shaw Street close to the city centre. It is the culmination of three years of study from final year Fine Art and Design students.

Painting, sculpture, jewellery design, textiles and ceramics will all be on show.

The public are invited to view the Degree Show between Saturday 30th May – Friday 5th June 2015. The show is ideal for art and design lovers, those thinking about studying Art or Design, and employers or practitioners interested in finding out more about the up and coming talent from Liverpool Hope.

The show will begin with a private viewing on Friday 29th May, where a number of prizes will be awarded including the first ever FACT + Hope Production Residency, which will see one final year Fine Art student from Liverpool Hope receive funding and technical support for the production of a new body of work which will be exhibited at FACT in December. The successful graduate will also receive a stipend for the period of the two-month long residency.

Also to be awarded at the private view are: The Bluecoat Display Centre Exhibition Award, The European Opera Centre Commission, Sysco Commission Prize, Virgin Trains 1st Class Lounge Exhibition Award, Liverpool Hope University Alumni Purchase Prize and The Frank Award.

At Liverpool Hope, Fine Art is about change, challenge, communication and application. It is about exploring individual creativity through visual possibilities in an increasingly context-aware, media-saturated and complex world. Fine Art provides the structure for the pursuit of individual creative experiences and endeavour, intellectual study and the fulfilment of creative potential. A full programme of two-and three-dimensional study, incorporating a variety of fine art media, is underpinned throughout by critical studies in contemporary and historical art.

Design deals with printed and constructed textiles, studio and industrial ceramics, interior and street furniture, objects for the interior, product design, silversmithing, jewellery and new digital technologies.  The programme enables students to develop a visual and discerning understanding of the importance of design within a wide variety of specialist material areas relevant to their individual learning, personal development and future employment.

The University welcomes the public to witness the strength, courage, critical engagement and reflective decision making that makes up the everyday experiences of excellence in scholarship and academic engagement.
