Original student artwork to go on saleFriday 24 February 2017
Original, one-of-a-kind textile, painting, ceramic, drawing, metal, paint, sculpture and digital media work will be available to purchase at the annual Fine and Applied Art Auction.
Hosted by Dr Paul O’Keefe, the public auction sits alongside the end of year Final Degree Show as one of the department’s highlights of the year.
As well as being a main fundraiser for the students it is also part of their professional practice development. Each of the students assign themselves specific roles, from Event Project Managers to Marketing and Treasurers. The success of the event is founded on good preparation and organisational skills.
Fine & Applied Arts Technical Manager Jason Jones said: “This is a high profile public event and it is the first opportunity the third-year Fine Art students will have to showcase an insight into their individual practice ahead of their end of year Final Degree show in May.”
As well as student pieces, the auction will feature donated artworks from staff working in the department and other established artists. Alongside this, there will be a raffle complete with a variety of prizes.
The Fine and Applied Art Auction will be held at the Great Hall, Cornerstone Building, Creative Campus on Wednesday 1st March at 5pm. Free refreshments will be provided and all proceeds will go towards the Final Degree Show, which opens to the public on Friday 26th May.
