Tuesday 2 October 2012
Liverpool Hope’s new student social space – Our Place – was officially opened on Friday 28th September by MP for Wavertree Luciana Berger and the Higher Education Funding Council for England’s (HEFCE) regional consultant Mark Allanson.
Our Place, is a modern space that includes a pizza restaurant, serving wood-fired pizzas, a coffee area and bar. There is also a new auditorium where comedy nights, gigs and other events can be held.
Speaking at the event Luciana Berger said: “It is fantastic to come and share in the celebrations as Liverpool Hope opens this new and exciting space for their students. This is yet another example of how the University is moving forward to create a diverse student offer in Liverpool. This is not just an investment in bricks and mortar, but in our students and this city. Our Place is indicative of the fresh, modern and confident approach at Liverpool Hope.”
Mark Allanson reinforced this message and said: “Everyone involved in the creation of Our Place should be congratulated. It is wonderful to see that in tough economic times, Liverpool Hope continues to invest in its students to enrich their experience at University. The value of this space is in the sense of community that it will help to create as students come here to meet and develop together.”
Students’ Union President Ben Ramsdale said: “I am very excited about the opportunities this new Student Hub offers to everyone at Hope. It is very important that students have a place to call their own on campus. Our Place is all we wished for and more for students at Liverpool Hope.”
Professor Pillay, Vice-Chancellor at Liverpool Hope, said: “Our Place is a wonderful addition to our University and our Estates team have done a brilliant job. It is a joy to see it completed and I am so pleased that our students have this well designed space to meet with friends, perform and enjoy social events.”
