Praise for Dr Sonja Tiernan’s book on Eva Gore-Booth

Eva Gore Booth Friday 25 September 2015

Senior Lecturer in Modern History Dr Sonja Tiernan’s book The Political Writings of Eva Gore-Booth has been praised in the media.

Writing in The Irish Times, Head of Special Projects at the National Archives of Ireland Catriona Crowe said: “This book is a serious contribution to women’s, gender, labour and social history. Gore-Booth is well worth recuperating, and many of her writings are as relevant today as they were in the first decades of the 20th century.”

The volume includes a selection of letters, political pamphlets, newspaper articles and poetry relating to key aspects of Irish and British events of the early twentieth century. Many of the writings are previously unpublished or, due to strict codes of wartime censorship, were never widely circulated.

Dr Tiernan is currently in Montreal as the Visiting Peter O'Brien Fellow at the Irish Studies Centre, Concordia University.
