Scholarship awards recognise outstanding students

Scholarships Thursday 3 December 2015

Two scholarship presentation evenings celebrated students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and ability.

Entry to Liverpool Hope University is based on the quality and talent of students wishing to be educated within Hope’s Mission and Values, and the University offers a wide range of scholarships and awards.

Roger Lloyd, who studied at the City of Bristol College, said: “I was quite shocked when I found out I’d been nominated and my family were ecstatic.”

The Drama & Theatre Studies and Marketing student received an Excellence Scholarship in recognition of his academic achievements at A-level.

He added: “It’s a really great achievement and I’m happy to be receiving the award.”

Carly McIlroy, who is studying Philosophy & Ethics and Religion, described feeling honoured at being picked to receive a Foundation Scholarship.

The former Aquinas College pupil said: “I had my heart set on coming to Hope and was thrilled when I found out I was one of only two people to have been put forward by my college.

“Having a scholarship celebration event makes it seem even more special.”

Foundation Scholarships are awarded to students nominated by partner/church schools and colleges. They are awarded to students who made Liverpool Hope their first choice and who the school or college believe has the ability to act as a role model for others, and who would benefit from a University education Foundation Scholarship.

The Excellence Scholarships recognise academic achievement and are awarded to students who have gained 360 UCAS points.

Music Scholarships are presented to students demonstrating exceptional promise in Music.

Meanwhile, the Liverpool Hope University and City of Liverpool College Gateway Scholarships are awarded to students form the City of Liverpool College, who selected Liverpool Hope University as their first choice, succeeded academically whilst at the College and have the ability to act as a role model for others whilst benefiting from a University Education.
