Sporting achievement for Liverpool Hope AlumnusTuesday 23 June 2015
Little League Sports, set up by Liverpool Hope alumnus Jordan Wright, scooped a prestigious Business of the Year award at the Echo Regional Business Awards.
Little League Sports offers sports coach training courses in partnership with high schools and colleges in the North West, football coaching for 4-11 yr olds, and sports camps. They won the Business of the Year (less than 50 staff) award, sponsored by John Lennon Airport.
The company was started by Jordan, who studied BA Childhood and Youth Studies, and business partner Joe Mulhearn in 2008 whilst they were both still studying for their degrees.
Liverpool Hope Business School provided them with an initial award to support their start up, and since then, the company has gone on to gain more than 30 school contracts, work with Liverpool Football Club, and employ eleven graduates from Liverpool Hope.
Dr Martin Carey, Head of Liverpool Hope University Business School, said: “Both Jordan and Joe have demonstrated dynamic leadership and passion about succeeding and this, rightly, has been recognised by this award. They have continued to work with Liverpool Hope in a number of important development areas. The links with Liverpool Hope were evidenced on the night by both Professor Gerald Pillay (Vice Chancellor) and myself being there to witness their success. Little League Sports is proving to be a big player in the whole area of sports management and training. All of us at Hope say well done. We look forward to working with them in the future.”
Jordan said: “We are absolutely delighted to be recognised amongst the region’s most elite businesses. It has been a real team effort by our fantastic group of staff. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Liverpool Hope University for all their guidance and assistance on our journey so far. We are looking forward to further developing our relationship with the Liverpool Hope University Business School.”
