Staff, students and alumni compete in Europe Corporate GamesThursday 16 June 2016
The sporting prowess of 19 members of staff, students and alumni will be put to the test at this year’s Europe Corporate Games, as they compete to be crowned winners.
Billed as Europe’s largest multi-sport festival for businesses, the event is coming to Liverpool on 23rd – 26th June and will bring with it teams from across the UK and wider continent.
Entering on behalf of Liverpool Hope University are netball and golf enthusiasts, runners, a tennis duo, an experienced triathlon competitor, an open water swimming pro and a table tennis champion.
Project Assistant Karen Dalby is hoping to pick up a medal in the triathlon heat.
She said: “Sport is my 'thing' and I have been involved in competition most of my life. I can't resist an opportunity to compete and the Corporate Games offers a different challenge.
“My early triathlon ‘career’ started around 1993, but I was distracted by Dragon Boat Racing and family commitments for many years. My more recent foray started in 2013. My goal is to compete for Great Britain as an Age Group athlete.”
The Games aim to promote active lifestyles, team building and networking opportunities, and display what Liverpool has to offer in terms of sport, business and tourism.
First place athletes will receive a medal for personal achievement and Winners Entry into the World Corporate Games.
