Top flight football and Turin trip on the agenda for business studentsMonday 23 March 2015
A trip to the World Chamber Congress in Turin and a four week internship with Everton FC’s Executive Team were just two of the awards presented to Liverpool Hope students at the first ever Insight to Business Awards.
Students, academics and businesses attended the awards ceremony organised by the Liverpool Hope University Business School and Business Gateway. Business School tutors nominated students who then had to undertake interviews and give presentations to the host organisations before a winner was chosen for each category.
The event was sponsored by Active Profile, Dipstix, Everton FC, Knowsley Chamber of Commerce, Liverpool and Sefton Chamber of Commerce, Mason Owen and World Merit, each of whom offered work experience or shadowing opportunities as prizes.
Stephanie Cox, Joshua Loveday, James Ward, Michelle Moyo, Sandra Quarcoo, Miles Dove and Claudia Hurlock were the winners on the night.
Miles Dove was presented with a four week internship with Everton FC’s Executive Team and Claudia Hurlock was chosen to be part of an official delegation for Liverpool and Sefton Chamber of Commerce at the World Chamber Congress in Turin in June. The evening also included a speech from student Minenhle Moyo, who spoke about her experience as Head of Business School for a day.
Carol Buckman from Hope Business Gateway said: “The focus of these awards wasn’t on winning a financial prize, but on gaining employability skills. Seven awards were offered, with four offering practical work experience, and three of them offering the opportunity to shadow CEOs from leading organisations in the city. This will not only open up a new network for students, but lead to some wonderful learning and development opportunities.”
