University fundraiser helps Childwall in Bloom land coveted prizeThursday 17 December 2015
Local community group Childwall in Bloom has thanked Liverpool Hope University for helping it scoop the Best Large Neighbourhood award in the RHS’s Britain in Bloom contest.
The volunteer-led group, which focuses on cleaning up and maintaining green spaces in the Childwall area, has hosted its annual Open Garden fundraiser at Hope for the last four years.
As well as a guided tour around the University gardens, the event features a plant and cake sale.
Margaret Weighill, a member of the group, said: “We are always grateful for the University’s help and support, and without the Open Garden - which is our major fund raising event - we would not be able to put on such a great floral display around the area.”
The group beat stiff competition to take home the City of Liverpool Trophy.
