Voices of Hope tour raises charity fundsWednesday 8 July 2015
Vocal ensemble Voices of Hope (VoH) raised more than 2,000 euros for charity following a highly successful tour of the Dordogne region in France.
The group performed three concerts in the churches of in La Roche Chalais, Bourg-du-Bost and Saint Privat des Prés, and in the Café Collonnes, in Riberac, on market day.
Having first performed in the Dordogne in 2014, VoH returned to the region to raise money for Liverpool Hope’s Department of Social Work, Care and Justice’s Sangamam project, which supports a fishing community in northern Chennai, India.
Professor Stephen Pratt, Voices of Hope Musical Director, said: “Having created a strong impression on the previous visit, the return of VoH was eagerly anticipated locally. We performed to large audiences in all three churches, completely exceeding expectations, and received standing ovations.
“The singers thoroughly deserved this response – much of their singing was exquisite, and the performances easily exceeded the highest standards of student performance that I can remember during my 44-year career at Liverpool Hope.
“The ensemble is one the University can be immensely proud of and represents outstanding student achievement. It has been a great experience for me to work with them, and I hope they will remember the last 24 months for many years to come.”
VoH's final concert on Friday 2nd October as part of the ensemble’s MA in Creative Practice, and auditions for the next vocal group will begin shortly afterwards.
Any student at Liverpool Hope can apply for an audition and more information will be released nearer the time.
