NEW SKILLS TESTS FOR 2013

If you are thinking of applying for a teacher training course which starts after 1 July 2013, it is a government requirement that you take the numeracy and literacy skills tests as part of the application process. You must ensure you have passed them both before the start of the course.

Further information and full details about the registration process is available here, please read it carefully:

www.education.gov.uk/get-into-teaching/apply-for-teacher-training

The tests cover the core skills that teachers need to fulfil their professional role in schools, but do not replace the GCSE grade C equivalence entry requirement

The tests are computerised and can be taken at any of approximately 150 test centres throughout the UK. You can register for the tests before you apply for your chosen course of study but you can only take the tests after you have completed your application.  You will need to provide evidence of your application for a Teacher Training programme at the Test Centre.

You may wish to complete the tests prior to your interview. If this is not possible, you will need to successfully complete both tests before your place on the course can be confirmed. Liverpool Hope will access the Pearson’s website to confirm skills test passes; there is no need to inform us directly.

Practice tests are available from the following links:
