Outdoor Activities for Schools -news update: five day activities course: availability June 2012
Programmes of outdoor education activities for schools are individually designed by qualified teaching professionals, satisfying the needs of each school group. The outdoor activities packages, which can be shortened or extended as required, cover many aspects of the curriculum, particularly those activities associated with PSE and Outdoor and Adventurous Activities. Field Courses
Plas Caerdeon is the ideal base for outdoor activity and field courses, offering teachers opportunities to explore a unique learning environment. Students can take advantage of the Centre's location to undertake geography and biology-based field trips, as well as creative breaks studying art, English and history. Right on the doorstep at Plas Caerdeon are beautiful sandy beaches, rocky shores, rugged mountains, rivers, woodlands and forests - all ideal venues for outdoor activiites. Cader Idris, towering above the Mawddach estuary, is the focal point of the area, with its stunning mountain and sea views. Harlech Castle and the picturesque Italianate architecture of Portmeirion are nearby, as are slate caverns, the Ffestiniog Narrow Gauge railway, and the Centre for Alternative Technology. |

All outdoor activities, designed for Year 4 pupils and above, are supervised by experienced and qualified outdoor education instructors. Student to Instructor ratios vary depending on the activity , but are generally around 10:1.
