Overview

The MSc in Business and Management is a 12 month programme that offers a career development opportunity to a wide variety of students – from recent graduates, who may not have a business background, to potential or inexperienced managers based in the UK or overseas.

The programme aims to link the academic study of business and management with the complex and uncertain business environment faced by today’s managers. In doing this you will develop a comprehensive understanding of a range of important business issues, and will develop a critical perspective of these areas, with the view to developing your business and managerial knowledge, skills and understanding. As part of an international cohort of students you will also gain experience of working in cross-cultural teams that will equip you for a management role in the global economy.

Curriculum

You will study nine taught modules in Semesters 1 and 2. You will also undertake a research methods module, which will lead to the production of a research proposal for your dissertation. The final piece of the course is the completion of a dissertation which is completed in Semester 3. Each of these nine modules are worth 15 credits and the research dissertation is worth 45 credits. You must complete 180 credits to graduate with an MSc degree. The programme is currently being offered only as a full-time entry.

Entry Requirement

Applicants will need the following:

  • Normally a good Honours degree in management, business, public administration, education, marketing or social science subject.
  • CMI level 5 diploma (or similar professional qualification), combined with a solid academic reference, and appropriate work experience will also be considered.
  • Alternative qualifications, combined with appropriate professional experience will also be considered.
  • Students whose first language is not English there is a language requirement of IELTS 6.5 overall (reading 6, writing 6), TOEFL ibt 87, or other equivalent recognised English language qualification. Teaching & Research

Liverpool Hope Business School has a thriving research informed teaching culture with two international research centres namely CREST (Centre for Research in Emergency Services) and SEED (Social & Ethical Enterprise Development). We are also editors of two internationally acclaimed journals including both the Social Enterprise Journal and International Journal of Emergency Services.
