At Hope, we want our students to have the best possible chance to embark on stimulating, rewarding and successful careers. However it is also one of our priorities to develop rounded individuals who have more to offer than good qualifications. We like to help our graduates acquire skills which will enable them to play a full role as active citizens in modern society, at a local, national or global level.
All of this is captured in the individual graduate profiles that you will find in our academic department information. Our academic departments are grouped into one of three Faculties, so to access this information go to www.hope.ac.uk/faculties and follow the links to the appropriate faculty and then department. The Graduate Profile will be available as a link on the right hand side of the department page.
In this statement and the various webpages that are linked from it, you can find out how the University aims to develop and enhance your employability and citizenship skills.

Liverpool Hope has a University-wide Strategy for Enhancing Student Employability that guides the work of Career Development (the University’s careers service), the Business Gateway (the University’s business support unit) and subject academics in enhancing our students’ employment prospects. The strategy is underpinned by eight key objectives which are outlined in areas covering Curricula Development; Employer Engagement; Internal Collaboration with University Teams and the Marketing and Evaluation of the support systems in place. This Strategy is a 5 year plan which is implemented and evaluated to ensure the best possible outcome for Liverpool Hope University students and their employability prospects on Graduation.
The Career Development service offers a full range of guidance, information and support to find work experience details of which can be found on our Career Development page.
The University recognises that testing your newly acquired knowledge and skills in real settings provides you with a real advantage when you come to seek employment or set up your own business. Therefore many of our courses include work experience placements or work-based learning opportunities.
Additionally several of our courses are accredited by professional bodies, so you can be sure that they provide you with opportunities to develop the skills and knowledge that are crucial for working in a particular professional area.
A number of our graduates go on to be self-employed and the University provides a range of support for its students to develop their enterprise and entrepreneurial skills. These services are developed through the University’s Business Gateway. In addition the Business Gateway team is available to assist enterprising students and link them to relevant business support opportunities.
