The Department is committed to offering students a range of international opportunities.
Social work students have the opportunity to undertake 35 days of their initial social work placement in either India or the USA. In India there are opportunities in Chennai to undertake work in gender violence, child welfare, disability or women's support projects. In the U.S. the link is with Hope College Michigan where there are options in learning disabilities or homelessness.
In addition all students in the Department are able to access a field trip to the Palestinian West Bank. This is undertaken every second year and allows students to live and work in the refugee camp in Tulkarem.
Each Easter the Department runs a 10 day trip to Samos, Greece, where there are opportunities to work and support refugees entering the EU.
Every June there is a summer school that compares mental health services in the US and Britain. This brings students from Liverpool and Michigan together to explore these issues - two weeks of teaching are provided in each location.
These opportunities are in addition to university wide options via Global Hope and ERASMUS student exchange.
