Social Pedagogy in the UK: Present challenges, Future prospects
Postponed until 2011 Liverpool Hope University
Recent changes in the scope and character of childcare/ residential
care in the UK have brought social pedagogy to the epicentre of the
discussion. A rigorous academic debate followed the state funded pilot-
project on social pedagogical practice in residential care. The
reactions of the stakeholders vary from mystification and suspicion to
enthusiasm and acceptance. Interestingly, in either side of the
spectrum, practitioners, employers, legislators and service users
appear to be everything but indifferent about the developments.
