I am Senior Lecturer in Popular Music Studies. I am the director of the world's first ever Masters Degree related to the Beatles: The Beatles, Popular Music & Society, which draws serious popular music researchers from all over the world to study at Liverpool Hope University. I am also responsible for a number of Popular Music Studies-based Doctoral students and organise and deliver popular music studies provision in years I and H. The courses Popular Music Studies and Critical Approaches to Popular Music are my direct responsibility although I also teach on several other courses.

I am an active researcher and have been published on several occasions, most recently (August 2012) the world's first Beatles Annotated Bibliography. Research specialisms are wide and varied but include popular music histories, popular music semiotics, popular music on film, popular music in society, the Beatles, folk/rock and West Coast music of the 1960s, and the histories of the music and media industries.
