As an undergraduate, I studied English Literature and Mathematics at the University of Glasgow, then went on to complete a PhD in English Literature at Royal Holloway, University of London. My research focuses on representations of disability in contemporary literature and culture, particularly popular genre fiction. I guest-edited a special issue of the Journal of Literary & Cultural Disability Studies, 'Popular Genres and Disability Representation', published in 2012, and am currently working on a book on disability in contemporary genre fiction.
