I am a qualified chartered certified accountant, having graduated with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 2002. I subsequently became a Member of the Association in 2006 and a Fellow (FCCA) in 2011. Prior to this, I graduated from Liverpool Polytechnic in 1987 with a BA Honours degree in Social Studies. More recently, in 2015, I graduated from the University of Chester with an MA in Urban Regeneration.
For the past 20 years I have been engaged in a variety of roles focused upon enterprise development, the social economy and micro-business. These roles have included the post of Chief Executive at Social Enterprise Network and a national role with Remploy as Business Development Manager for Social Enterprises. More recently, I have been self-employed in the delivery of a range of contracts supporting the development of community businesses, social enterprises, self-employment and micro-business.
In addition to my paid positions, I have served on a wide range of boards and panels, including the North Liverpool Partnership and Priority Panels overseeing the distribution of EU funding. My previous directorships include Social Enterprise North West and Merseyside Network for Europe and I am currently involved at board level with Progressive Lifestyle Solutions CIC - a supported housing provider, at the Naked Lunch community co-operative cafe and as Finance Director at City of Liverpool FC - a community owned football club currently playing at semi-professional level.
