BA (Colombo); PhD (Leeds); Senior Lecturer in English Language.

I currently teach Introducing English Language Studies, Global English, Aspects of Psycholinguistics and Stylistics. In previous years, I have taught courses on the History and Development of English (team taught), Analysing Textual Discourse for Intended Teachers, Spoken Discourse and Child Language Acquisition. I am currently the course leader for the following third year (Level H) courses: Independent Projects, Stylistics and Case Studies in Global English. In the second year (Level I), I am course leader for Aspects of Psycholinguistics. I also serve as Faculty Academic Advisor.

 
My main research interests are in World Englishes, child language, code-switching and language in pop music. I am interested in supervising postgraduates who want to work in the following areas: World Englishes, Varieties of English including Sri Lankan English, Child Language Aquisition and Stylistics in non literary texts.
