Dr Macdonald-Clarke is a Lecturer in Nutrition and an Associate Registered Nutritionist. She completed her PhD at the University of Aberdeen studying the effects of fruit and vegetable derived bioactive compounds on bone health. She has a range of clinical, laboratory and epidemiological research experience and her research areas of interest include bone health, cardiovascular health, nutrition in the life cycle (particularly in adolescents and older adults), phytochemical compounds and metabolism.
She has teaching experience mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has presented her work at international and national conferences, published a book chapter and peer reviewed journal articles.
She previously worked in Post-Doctoral Research positions at The Rowett Research Institute for Nutrition and Health, Aberdeen, UK and The Nutrition Department at Purdue University, Indiana, USA before joining Liverpool Hope University in October 2015.
