I am Assistant Registrar (Creative Campus) with particular responsibility for supporting the student experience. I am also Associate Professor in Film History at Liverpool Hope.
I teach at undergraduate level on the Major, Film and Visual Culture, which also represents, along with the Major on Media and Communication, half of the BA Media and Communication. I also teach the compulsory module, Cinema and Society on MA Film, Media and Society. I have a PhD student researching textual (Literary, TV, Film) representations of the Tudors. Recent PhD and M.Phil graduates include those working on the relationship between New Media and Football Clubs, contemporary Mexican Cinema, and the 1930s films of Frank Capra.
I lead Liverpool Hope's Popular Culture Research Group and convene the annual international conference at Hope, Theorising the Popular. My research interests are film history and theory, as well as crime fiction, especially the work of Patricia Highsmith, Ruth Rendell, and the Swedish authors Sjowall Wahloo.
