In Hope's Department of Media and Communication, I lecture in the areas of media history, media industry, news, media production, and research methods. I am the Department's Research Coordinator for REF 2020.
My research interests include the development of online journalism in Ireland, the response of legacy media (print) organisations to the emergence of the World Wide Web, and news-media framing of the economic crisis and of Ireland’s overseas aid budget. My research has been disseminated through international conferences and peer-reviewed journals, including Journalism Studies, Journalism, The International Communication Gazette, Media History, Information, Communication and Society, Irish Communications Review, Telecommunications Policy, and the International Journal of Cultural Policy.
