I am a Barrister by profession. I began my career at the Bar in Liverpool in 1983, and, finally, retired from practice in 2006.
In 1998, I joined Manchester Metropolitan University as a senior lecturer teaching on the BVC and teaching Land Law on the University's undergraduate law programme. In 2004, I moved to Liverpool John Moores University and was module leader for, and taught, Land Law, Business Law, ADR and Succession on LJMU’s LL.B (Hons.) programme, I taught Equity and Trusts on the University's undergraduate law programme, I taught Land Law and Interviewing Skills on the University's post-graduate GDL programme, and, finally, I also held the post of programme leader for LJMU’s LL.M in Legal Practice and taught on its LL.M in Business Law programme.
My research interests include ADR and Succession. I am also a doctoral candidate at the University of Reading researching into the comparative treatment of carers.
I am a qualified mediator and was formerly the chair of the organising committee for the UK Law Schools Mediation Competition. I am still a member of that committee. I am also a consultant with a firm of solicitors in Cheshire and a trustee of the Liverpool YMCA. My hobbies include golf, contemporary music and Ancient Rome.
