I have a long association with Liverpool Hope University having studied here for a BA in Sport, Recreation and Physical Education followed by a PGCE in Secondary Physical Education from 1999-2003. In 2009, I completed a Masters degree in Performing Arts: Education at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA). I am currently studying for an EdD.
Initially teaching PE and dance in the secondary and further education sectors, for the majority of my career I worked as an advisory PE teacher and dance specialist across Primary, Secondary, Further and Special education as well as a school sports coordinator.
I have also worked as an intervention teacher in the primary sector and a class teacher in special educational needs units and schools.
I joined Liverpool Hope University in February 2013 as a Professional Tutor in Education: Physical Education. My responsibilities are coordinating the secondary PGCE PE course and PE provision on the BA QTS degree and the PGCE and school direct primary courses.
Research Interests: Assessment for Learning in the Physical Education and Performing Arts curriculum; Effective practice and pedagogy for PE in Initial Teacher Education, best practice in teaching and learning for improving physical activity participation in children.
