
I completed my BA (Hons), MA and PhD in Linguistics at Aligarh Muslim University - a reputed university in India. My areas of expertise are bilingualism, language in education, religious discourse and the media, South Asian Popular Culture and language and multiculturalism. I am currently the module leader for Global English, Language and Cultural Identity, and Independent Project at undergraduate level. At postgraduate level, I teach South Asian Popular Cultures under the MA in Popular Literatures programme. My publications include two monographs - on the language of advertising and language maintenance and shift, and a number of journal articles on language in education and bilingualism. At the moment I am writing a monograph on Religion in the Media: A Linguistic Perspective, to be published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2014.
