I was born in Stoke-on-Trent and moved to Liverpool in 2000, where I began my studies in Physics. The following 8 years were spent at Liverpool University, where I gained a BSc in Physics a Research Masters in Biophysics and a PhD in Physics, specialising in Surface Science. Towards the end of my studies at Liverpool University, I began to focus on education, spending time teaching in a wide range of Merseyside schools, from Primary schools to Sixth-Form colleges. Following the completion of my PhD in 2008, I worked in the Astrophysics department of Liverpool John Moores University where I coordinated science outreach activities for LJMU as part of the National School's Observatory project. In September 2010, I joined Liverpool Hope University as a Lecturer in Mathematics and Education Studies.
