BA (Econ) Hons, MA (Econ), PhD (Department of Government & Philosophy, University of Manchester) PGCE in Economics & Business Studies (University of Manchester). My research interests are in social theory and political philosophy. I am especially interested in issues surrounding the aims of education and the relationship between education, justice and democracy. At Liverpool Hope University I teach across the Sociology of Education and the Philosophy of Education within Education Studies. I also help to teach methodological issues in educational research. My recent writing has focused on the degradation of the good of education and the role of the university in citizenship formation. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britian.
