US Student Loans Application Information

Liverpool Hope University is a Title IV School and is therefore authorized by the US Department of Education to certify applications (for eligible students) for the Family Federal Education Loan Program (FFELP). On these pages you will find all the information you will need to calculate your cost of attendance, submit your application for financial aid, receive your disbursements, and get ready for repayment.

You need to apply to Liverpool Hope University to receive your loans: we are NOT automatically notified once you complete your FAFSA. The application process typically takes four weeks. Plan early.

Introduction to Financial Aid at Liverpool Hope University

If you have attended college in the US and are coming to the UK as an undergraduate or graduate student you will need to re-learn the way your financial aid is processed. The main differences between financial aid at a USA school and at a ‘foreign school’ are:

·Your FAFSA will not be electronically sent to us. We will not automatically know that you have applied for aid unless you send us your US Financial Aid Application Form.

·We will not certify your loan unless we have all the necessary documents (please see application section).

·Your financial aid checks will be sent to you in separate but equal disbursements through out the academic year. This is Federal Law and is not negotiable (please see disbursement section).

·If you do not hand in your documents to us in time you might not get processed until the next disbursement date (please see application section for deadlines).

It is imperative that you read and understand the information on this website. You must also read recommended information references and follow the procedures given and adhere to deadlines. We will try to make the loan process as easy as possible, but we will not be able to take short cuts or fast-track any applications. The steps for applying for financial aid and the procedures outlined on this site are set out in accordance with the guidelines and US Federal regulations.
