The Writing Centre is staffed by a full-time Co-ordinator (currently
Julian Brasington) and a team of postgraduate and undergraduate peer
writing tutors. The Centre is supported by the Write Now CETL and is
home to Liverpool Hope's
Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow, the acclaimed crime novelist,
Margaret
Murphy.
Over the course of the current year, we have worked
with more than 400 individual writers and scheduled in excess of 700
hour-long writing tutorials. Tutorials are rated very highly by
students using the Centre, with 94% of the sessions receiving a four or
five star rating .
What people say about us:
"This is a fantastic facility for anyone wanting to improve their
grades and their writing - I am a published novelist yet I found my
tutorial so useful I plan to request another" (2nd year English
Literature student). "As an international student I was new to the way
assignments are done here. The tutorials helped me to research,
organize and write in a structured way." (2nd year Business student).
The Writing Centre was commended in the
Writing Matters, the Royal Literary Fund's report on Student Writing in Higher Education as being
"a good example of a small, inexpensive facility having an influence out
of all proportion to its size." (Davies, Swinburne and Williams, 2006)
