Primary Geography

The new National Curriculum requirements set the bar high in terms of expectations for high quality, inspirational geography teaching which will stay with pupils for life. The materials below will provide support with helping you to do this through your teaching.

The Geographical Association

The best one stop shop to support your induction year is the Geographical Association.

There is a very strong Early Years and Primary section along with other excellent resources available at the Geographical Association shop.

Membership is a good form of CPD, through journals, conferences and supporting materials.

Geocube

Geocube offers core knowledge support for Human and Physical Geography.

The Green Thread

The ‘Green Thread’ is something missing from the current geography curriculum but environmental education is a key aspect of good quality primary geography. The Eco Schools programme brings sustainability to school.

The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom

Fieldwork and Learning Outside the classroom are key aspects of a high quality geography curriculum. The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom provides a range of support, from risk assessment through to creative strategies for teaching and learning.

If you have any specific requests for support or want advice on any aspect of primary geography, please contact nqt@hope.ac.uk.
