Using the Library

Important information regarding library services, resources and support during the Coronavirus pandemic

Opening hours - In response to the announcement from the Prime Minister, the Libraries are closed with immediate effect until further notice.

Extra online resources – We are in the process of setting this up so please keep checking these pages for updated information. Please note that our suppliers have kindly offered free access to this University to many additional resources during these uncertain times. This is to allow us to help you continue your studies as best we possibly can. However, it is important to note the temporary nature of this and once normal operations resume the additional resources will not be accessible so please ensure you take a note of all information you need for your reference list.

E-books – included in the above is unlimited concurrent access to many of our purchased e-books so there will be no restrictions to the number of students accessing them at the same time. If you encounter a problem accessing an e-book, please email

Extended loans - All library loans will be automatically extended into the next academic year, you do not therefore need to return items that are currently on loan on your record. All fines have been and will continue to be waived.

Inter-Library Loans –it is no longer possible for us to get books or photocopies from other libraries. However it is still possible for us to request the electronic delivery of some book chapters and journal articles. You can download the form from the above link, but please ensure you include your University email address.
Please note however that as there are no staff on site at any UK library, electronic articles and book chapters will only be supplied automatically if they already exist in an electronic source and should be received quite quickly. If you do not receive it quickly we regret this means it cannot be supplied as the article does not exist in an electronic source and there will be no automatic update or failure message as this requires staff intervention and there are no staff on site to do this.
