Using the Library
The Sheppard-Worlock Library is open as normal for walk-in access to study spaces, books, PCs, printers and for help and support in using all library resources.
Private Study Spaces, Postgraduate rooms, Group Study rooms and Specialist rooms can be booked via MyHope up to a week in advance.
Please continue to observe the rules and guidance around social distancing, hand hygiene and face coverings which should be worn at all times when inside the building, unless exempt. In line with University guidance you are encouraged to have a twice-weekly Covid test or before coming onto campus.
Browsing for print books
As the library is open as normal now you can browse the shelves for books and issue them to yourself using the new self-service machines. The Request & Collect service that was running during lockdowns has now closed. If you need a book from another campus this can be requested on OneSearch.

Policies and guidance
Find out how together we can make the library a great space to study and learn.
If you are unable to come to campus to borrow books, they can be posted to you and can be ordered via the University's Online Store.
Please be aware that there is a cost of £4.00/book and you will also need to return all loans. For more information and a guide to placing an order please see Postal book loan
The British Library is now able to loan physical copies of books. For more information and to make a request please see Inter-Library Loans.
If you wish to return loans that you no longer need, you can do this via the self-service machines or the Out-of-Hours book return bins in the following locations:
- The Sheppard-Worlock library
- The Student Success Zone on the Creative Campus
- The Trinity Room at the Aigburth Park Campus (or Aigburth residential students)
Books can also be returned to the library by posting them to the address below. We know that there is a cost involved and it is worth weighing the books and checking the price with different couriers. We advise that you use a service that provides proof of posting as books can be expensive to replace. If you have lost a book, you can buy a replacement copy, in good condition only, and have it posted directly to the Library.
