Global Hope

Global Hope is the University's international volunteering programme. It gives you an opportunity to act as a global citizen by engaging with issues of social justice and participating in projects in countries such as India, Sri Lanka and Brazil.

Please note that because of the pandemic the University has taken the difficult decision not to run face-to face-projects this year to keep staff, students and partners safe.
Instead staff and students have the chance to engage with our partners on-line and we are seeking LHU students to take part in on-line Global Hope projects.

Support for Partners

Global Hope has been supporting its overseas partners during the Coronavirus pandemic.

We have remained in contact with all our partners throughout the pandemic to show solidarity during these difficult times. Some students have raised funds for partners who have been in particularly difficult situations. Limited on-line activities took place with some partners.

Each year, we run a number of projects in different countries. Visit our projects page to see this and our projects and partners.

We hope to reinstate all of these projects in 2023. For summer 2022 all of the projects will share the same aims, due to the virtual nature of the projects. We currently hope to work with our partners in Brazil, Peru, South Africa and India. For details of the partners, please visit our projects page.

- Global Hope has communicated with our partners to understand their needs at this time. They have asked us to develop workshops that enable their participants to:

1 improve English language skills, especially speaking and listening

2 increase confidence and self-esteem

3 develop cross cultural awareness

For 2022 cost of participating in Global Hope have changed significantly as the projects are virtual with no overseas travel. We are encouraging students to fund raise £100 each to support partners. If you'd like to take part in Global Hope 2023, you'll need to raise £1,500 (TBC) towards Global Hope. Visit our costs page for further details for 2023 and fundraising ideas.
