Costs

If you take part in Global Hope, you won't have to pay any extra tuition fees and the projects take place during the summer, so you won't need to pay for an extra year of study. Students and staff are expected to make a financial contribution to Global Hope, through fundraising. Global Hope will then cover your international travel and accommodation costs.

Students are required to raise a minimum contribution of £1,500 to take part in Global Hope. All funds that have been raised should be given to the Global Hope team by the spring of the year of your project, so we highly recommend starting to fund raise in the autumn before you travel to give yourself plenty of time to raise the necessary amount.

Fundraising ideas

The Global Hope team and staff at the University are available to help you fundraise and give you any advice you may need. We run fundraising workshops which you are encouraged to attend and there also run sessions where talks are given by former Global Hope participants about fundraising events which they found successful.

In the past, people have raised money in a variety of ways, including:

  • Bake sales
  • Themed nights in Our Place
  • Sponsored walks/runs
  • Car boot sales
  • Sponsored activities
  • Cocktail evenings
  • Baked Bean baths
  • Just Giving pages
  • Having a Birthday or Christmas collection instead of presents from friends and family
  • Working additional shifts in a part-time job

Fundraising Workshops

We run a series of fundraising workshops throughout the year to help students reach their targets, we recommend that you come to at least one workshops once you have been accepted onto Global Hope. These are run by a dedicated member of the International Hub and there are often past students their to offer their advice on what worked well for them or what didn't work as well as planned.

The workshops this year will be confirmed in due course.

Please note: Becuase you raised the money in the name of Gloabl Hope it is not possible to refund the money to you if you decide to withdraw from the project.
