How to apply
Anyone can apply to take part in a Global Hope project. We particularly welcome applications from undergraduates at Level C or Level I. However you do need to be actively working towards your Service and Leadership Award; completing a Global Hope project will count towards a large part of your SALA.
Because of the pandemic, the University has taken the difficult decision not to run face-to face-projects this year, in order to keep staff, students and partners safe.
This is to ensure the continued health and safety of students, staff, collaborating partners and all their families. The University continues to prioritise minimisation of any risks to the health of students and staff in all of its decisions. This decision is in keeping with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office guidance to British nationals.
Instead staff and students have the chance to engage with our partners online through projects supported by the International Hub and Global Hope Committee.
Please visit the Global Hope 2022 page for further information
Before you apply you must attend an introductory workshop. An introductory presentation will be put online closer to the time. Students are asked to look at the presentation before completing the application form. Completed applications should be returned to the Global Hope Team in the International Hub on the first floor of the Gateway Building or by emailing email@example.com
Details of the introductory workshops will be posted here closer to the time.
The application form will ask you to list the projects in order of your preference and we will always work our hardest to ensure that you get your first choice, although bear in mind that some projects have limited places.

After you've applied
After we have received your application, we have an interview process. The interviews are in an informal setting and are designed to assess how suitable you are to go on a Global Hope Project.
After we have interviewed you, we aim to be in touch with you within two weeks via email to give you the results of your interview.
Please note the above will not apply to Global Hope 2022.
Staff who wish to be considered for a project should send an expression of interest to the Global Hope team at firstname.lastname@example.org, making clear what contributions they can make to a project. They are expected to have the support of their line manager and USET Team member.
In 2022 staff can access information on how to be part of on-line projects by visiting the Global Hope 2022 page.
