How to apply
Anyone can apply to take part in a Global Hope project. We particularly welcome applications from undergraduates at Level C or Level I. However you do need to be actively working towards your Service and Leadership Award; completing a Global Hope project will count towards a large part of your SALA.
Due to the global pandemic of Coronavirus and the uncertainty of international travel, the University is not able to confirm Global Hope projects for Summer 2022 yet. This is to ensure the continued health and safety of students, staff, collaborating partners and all their families. The University continues to prioritise minimisation of any risks to the health of students and staff in all of its decisions. This decision is in keeping with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office guidance to British nationals.
We will review the situation regularly for Summer 2022 and if it appears likely that foreign travel will be unrestricted in Summer 2022, we will open applications as soon as possible. Students or staff who would like to be part of an overseas project in Summer 2022 will be encouraged to apply then.
Before you apply you must attend an introductory workshop. An introductory presentation will be put online closer to the time. Students are asked to look at the presentation before completing the application form. Completed applications should be returned to the Global Hope Team in the International Hub on the first floor of the Gateway Building or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Details of the introductory workshops will be posted here closer to the time.
The application form will ask you to list the projects in order of your preference and we will always work our hardest to ensure that you get your first choice, although bear in mind that some projects have limited places.
After you've applied
After we have received your application, we have an interview process. The interviews are in an informal setting and are designed to assess how suitable you are to go on a Global Hope Project.
After we have interviewed you, we aim to be in touch with you within two weeks via email to give you the results of your interview.
Staff who wish to be considered for a project should send an expression of interest to the Global Hope team at email@example.com, making clear what contributions they can make to a project. They are expected to have the support of their line manager and Rectorate Team member.
