Tuition fees cover the cost of your degree and are charged each year of study. The tuition fees for 2019/20 are £9,250 for full-time undergraduate courses. If you are a student from the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands, your tuition fees will also be £9,250.
You don’t have to pay your tuition fees up front, you can choose to defer payment until after you graduate by taking out a tuition fee loan. This means that the Student Loans Company pays the University your tuition fee while you are studying, and you repay this money as part of your student loan after you graduate.
The money for both tuition fees and maintenance loans comes from the government via the Student Loans Company and does not have to be repaid until you have left University, and you are earning over £25,725 per year. (England & Wales) In NI and Scotland repayments start once you are earning over £18,935 per year.
Please note that the University reserves the right to increase Home and EU Undergraduate and PGCE tuition fees in line with any inflationary or other increase authorised by the Secretary of State for future years of study.

Part-time students
The tuition fees for 2019/20 part-time undergraduate degrees is £4,625. The part time fee is fixed at the year of entry and isn't subject to increases by inflation over the study period, except if you are required to retake a year (in which case the fee will default to the current year of study).
If you are studying your degree part-time, you’ll usually only get student finance if you’re doing your first higher education qualification - even if your previous course was self-funded.
However, you may still get limited funding if, for example:
- you change course
- you leave your course but decide to start again
- you’re ‘topping up’ a higher education qualification, eg you’ve finished an HNC, HND or Foundation Degree and now want to do an Honours degree
- you hold an Honours degree or higher level of qualification and start a part-time Honours degree in engineering, technology or computer science (or a Combined Honours in two of these subjects)
If you are eligible to apply for a tuition fee loan, you will need to complete a PTL1 form, available from the Student Finance website.

Student Support Fund
Due to the financial challenges that some students are now facing due to Covid-19 the Student Support Fund will remain open to all current students during the summer and the deadline for applications is now August 31st 2020. As the final day of term has now passed, level H undergraduate students including those who have been given academic extensions can apply for universal credit. Once you are in receipt of these benefits and if have been given an extension then you may apply using the summer SSF application form below if you are still struggling financially.
Please read the following carefully and ensure you complete the correct application form.
Final year postgraduate students should complete the following application form and then scan it along with supporting documentation to studentfunds@hope.ac.uk
Summer SSF Application Form
If you are not a final year student then self supporting as well as students who are returning to the family home during the summer can apply with the following application form and once completed you should scan the form along with supporting documentation to studentsfunds@hope.ac.uk
Summer SSF Application Form
Self supporting students are defined as those who are not returning to a family home during the summer. Documentary evidence is required to support the application and details of this can be found within the application form.
The formula for calculating awards for students is based around essential expenditure including rent, utility bills etc so the expectation for students who are returning to the family home is that expenditure during the summer will be low so awards from the fund will be limited. However there is a personal statement section on the application form and extenuating and unique circumstances will be taken into account although documentary evidence of your special circumstances may be required.
The University is also aware that students are arranging accommodation for next year at this time and landlords are asking for deposits and rents in advance which may prove to be a financial challenge for some students. The support fund is offering cash advances against the next instalment of the maintenance loan in order to pay the rents and deposits and this can be applied for on the following application which once completed should be scanned with supporting documentation to studentfunds@hope.ac.uk. Please note that the cash advance is a last resort if you cannot raise the money or cannot negotiate a deferred payment with the landlord and you are in danger of losing the accommodation. Cash advances cannot be given if you have already paid the money to the landlord. Details of documentary evidence required can be found within the form and any cash advances will be paid directly to the landlord.
Cash Advance Application Form
International and EU and Island students can apply by completing the following application form which needs to be scanned to studenfunds@hope.ac.uk
