Associate Dean and Head of the Creative Campus - 2ADOA2

Liverpool Hope University is a vibrant community with high scholarly standards.  We are proud of our past, confident in our present and ambitious for our future. Research is central to our curriculum development and enhancement and all academic staff at the University engage in research. Building upon our REF 2014 submission we are looking with ambition and confidence to the next REF, strengthening even further our research degree programme (PhD and EdD). This developing research expertise builds upon and complements our already well established reputation for excellence in teaching and learning. Our policy is to combine these elements of our work in keeping with the University’s stated academic profile as a research-informed, teaching University of distinction. It is in this context that we now seek scholars in a number of areas who will join with us in pursuit of excellence; these opportunities include the post of:

Associate Dean and Head of the Creative Campus

The University is seeking to appoint a leader of its distinctive and highly acclaimed Creative Campus that houses all the University’s creative and performance subjects: Music, Drama and Theatre Studies alongside Fine Art, Design, Graphic and Visual Arts.  The successful candidate will be appointed ‘Associate Dean’ and take overall responsibility for these subjects.  The provision is based at the University’s Creative Campus in the heart of City of Liverpool with its vibrant creative arts and performance tradition.

The person appointed to this role will be expected, in cooperation with the Dean of Arts and Humanities and the Vice Chancellor, to develop a bold vision for the Creative Campus, which will include raising the profile of the campus and its activities nationally  as well as leading and managing the academic units based at that campus.  The University is looking for an ambitious and forward-looking individual, who has high-level experience as a prominent arts practitioner.  He or she will have a background in music or music-related area but the University will consider all suitable applicants.  The Associate Dean will report to Professor Nicholas Rees, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

The post is permanent, subject to the normal probationary period of twelve months.

Normally a PhD is required for a post of this nature, but the University will consider applicants who come with considerable and established experience of leadership in one or more of the creative and performing arts.

An Associate Professorial or Professorial title may be considered for a suitably qualified candidate.

We recruit staff nationally and internationally as we seek out the best to help build Hope for the future. If you join us you will be doing so at an exciting and challenging time as we work to build a liberal arts inspired university of distinction in the UK. If you have the energy, drive and commitment to assist us in this task, we would be delighted to hear from you.
