Dr Lorna Bourke presents to the European Literacy NetworkWednesday 9 November 2016
Principal Lecturer in Psychology Dr Lorna Bourke was invited to a meeting of the European Literacy Network (ELN) working group at the Centre for Applied Neuroscience, University of Cyprus, Nicosia.
Dr Bourke presented and discussed her work in the impact of cognitive load on visual and orthographic coding strategies in writing development in young children and students with dyslexia in Higher Education.
Her attendance at the event was funded by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology Action IS140, and the ELN working group was interested in discussing the outcomes of the work in conjunction with the ‘take home message’ from the project for educators.
As a result of her involvement with the ELN working group, Lorna is also involved in a collaborative project with 10 other participating countries, exploring our understanding of teachers' knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards multilingualism, and the benefits and challenges of multilingual classrooms.
