Inaugural Shoulder Rehabilitation Conference attracts global audience

Shoulder Conference Thursday 30 November 2017

The inaugural Shoulder Rehabilitation Conference brought experts and industry frontrunners from across the globe to Liverpool Hope.

Speakers and delegates from countries including Japan, Russia, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Denmark, Estonia, Belgium and Switzerland came together to discuss 'New Discoveries and Future Directions'.

The two-day event explored the future of shoulder and upper limb rehabilitation, and featured presentations by Vice-president of the European Society of Shoulder and Elbow Rehabilitation Suzanne Gard and Lead Physiotherapist and Technical Lead for the North West for the English Institute of Sport Dr Ian Horsley.

Stewart Kerr, Chartered Physiotherapist at Life Fit Wellness, tweeted: “Just wanted to say a big thank you to [Omid] and all others in organising and executing a sensational inaugural conference. You've set the bar very high.”

Dr Omid Khaiyat, Acting Head of School of Health Sciences and the conference organiser, said: “The conference was a huge success and brought a substantial number of internationally recognised scientists and clinical experts, and industrial frontrunners to Hope.

“The extent of positive feedback about the quality of the conference and surrounding environment - the School of Health Sciences’ new facilities and university’s beautiful campus in particular - was extremely overwhelming, and a large number of delegates have already expressed their interest towards future conferences at Hope.

“Following the success of this conference, one of the world’s leading companies in biomechanical technology, Noraxon USA, is now planning to bring their main user conference to Hope in February 2018, which is promising to be another great international event at Hope.”

Three attendees share their thoughts on the conference: Dr Anju JaggiDr Jo Gibson and Dr Jeremy Lewis.
