Leading Law blog recognises Dr Siliquini-Cinelli’s article

Luca Siliquini-Cinelli Thursday 1 March 2018

The Legal Theory Blog has recommended a new article written by Senior Lecturer in Law Dr Luca Siliquini-Cinelli.

The site highlighted Dr Siliquini-Cinelli’s paper Vilhelm Lundstedt's ‘Legal Machinery’ and Apprehending Juristic Practice as a suggested read.

Run by Lawrence Solum, Carmack Waterhouse Professor of Law at Georgetown, the blog is a leading resource for legal theorists and philosophers. It reports on recent scholarship in jurisprudence, law and philosophy, law and economic theory, and theoretical work in substantive areas.

Dr Siliquini-Cinelli’s article explores the general crisis faced by law schools and the legal professions, discussing why juristic practice is a matter of experience rather than knowledge.

Written during a visiting fellowship at the Uppsala Forum on Democracy, Peace & Justice, Faculty of Law, Uppsala University, the paper uses a critical contextualisation of Vilhelm Lundstedt’s thought under processes of globalisation and transnationalism, to argue ‘the demise of the jurist’s function is related to law’s scientification as brought about by the metaphysical construction of reality’.

An earlier version of the articleentitled Juristic Practice as an Act of Experience, was presented as the Uppsala Forum Guest Lecture, and given at the Faculty of Law, Uppsala University.
