Social Work Tutor has new chapter publishedTuesday 31 October 2017
Professional Tutor in Health and Wellbeing Joanne Heeney has a new chapter in the Palgrave Handbook of Disabled Children’s Childhood Studies.
The book is described as moving ‘beyond discussion of impairment, inequality and abuse to enable disabled children to step out from under shadows of the normative expectations that have clouded their lives’.
Mrs Heeney’s chapter focuses on Intersectionality theory in research with the fathers of children with the label of autism.
She said: “My work aims to acknowledge diversity amongst fathers, families and people with the label of autism.
“It seeks to recognise the ways in which gender and autism overlap with other identity markers, such as context and age, to shape fathers’ involvement in children’s lives.”
The book is due to be released on Thursday 2nd November.
