UPDATE:

As UCAS Teacher Training registration is now open for courses starting in September 2018, you can apply to study on one of our PGCE courses by logging into your UCAS account. We will then contact you with an update on the progress of your application and to confirm if you have been selected to attend at Interview Day at our Hope Park Campus.

Upcoming PGCE Selection Events 

PLEASE NOTE: These pre-application events are now closed for registration. 

If you are considering applying for a PGCE course starting in September 2018, you may be eligible to attend one of our PGCE Selection Events to get a head start on securing a PGCE place at Liverpool Hope University.

Our next PGCE Selection Events take place at our Hope Park Campus on:

  • Wednesday 1st November
  • Friday 3rd November

Our PGCE courses include Early YearsPrimary and Secondary.

The Selection Day is your opportunity to demonstrate why you would be a successful candidate for a PGCE course at Liverpool Hope.

Attending one of our PGCE Selection Days will give you the chance to:

  • have an interview with a member of the School of Teacher Education team
  • find out what we are looking for in an ambitious Hope Teacher
  • benefit from support with preparing your personal statement
  • get advice on taking National Skills Tests
  • visit Hope Park campus to see what it is like to study at Liverpool Hope.

At the end of the Selection Event, you will be given a verbal assessment of how strong your potential application is for securing a PGCE place at Liverpool Hope, if you decide to formally apply through UCAS.

 

Criteria for registering to attend a selection event

In order to be eligible to attend the Selection Event, you must hold the following qualifications and experience:

  • GCSE English Language (grade C or above)
  • GCSE Mathematics (grade C or above)
  • GCSE Science (grade C or above) - PGCE Primary and Early Years only
  • An undergraduate degree (preferably a 2:1 or above*) or be in the final year of an undergraduate degree.

You do not need to have completed your National Skills Tests to attend the event, but please note the successful completion of the tests is mandatory for students to be accepted on to a PGCE programme. 

PGCE applicants will also be expected to have mainstream primary or secondary school experience and are required to successfully pass a Health Check Statement and an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
