During my time in academia, I have held positions on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. In September 2017, I assumed my current position as a senior lecturer in public law at Liverpool Hope University in Liverpool, England, United Kingdom.
I completed my higher education in the United States. I earned my B.A. in Communication and English from California State University, Stanislaus, in Turlock, California; my J.D. from the University of the Pacific in Sacramento, California; and my M.A. and Ph.D. in speech communication from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah.
After finishing graduate school, I worked for several years as a legal aid attorney in California. In that capacity, I represented indigent clients, mainly in the areas of housing, employment, and elder law. I am a member of the State Bar of California and the bars of various U.S. federal courts.
As an academic, I primarily have taught in the area of public law. My courses have included U.S. Constitutional Law, U.S. Criminal Procedure, U.K. Constitutional and Administrative Law, and Comparative Constitutional Law. I also have taught U.S. Mass Communication Law and U.S. Property Law. My research interests include the overlapping areas of constitutional law, civil rights, social justice, critical theory, law and rhetoric, and the history of legal education. While in academia, I have provided pro bono representation to indigent litigants in federal court in the States, particularly at the appellate level.
My published research is available via the Social Science Research Network at the following location: http://ssrn.com/author=2067965.
