Dr Islam came from the University of Nottingham and worked as a Research Fellow between December 2020 and September 2022. However, his research career started with a bachelor's (Bach. of Urban and Rural Planning) thesis, "Solid waste management in Khulna Industrial City..." at Khulna University in 2004. In 2010 and 2013, he completed two Master (MSc. in Geodesy and Geoinformatics, and MSc. in Spatial Planning, respectively) from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, with two MSc. thesis "Riverbank erosion and deposition..." and "Evaluation sites for river bridge..." applying GIS and remote sensing. During 2010-2016, PhD research (Natural Science) was conducted by using mathematical modelling, which was validated by geodetic GPS and Remote sensing data. Meanwhile, he has undertaken plenty of research, e.g., on geographical vulnerability analysis, cyclone disaster preparedness, forest ecology assessment, land use change detection, rural-urban transition, air pollution and effect on public health considering quantitative (e.g., applying GIS, remote sensing, statistical modelling) and qualitative (e.g., focus group discussion, questionnaire survey) measures.  He also works as a part-time lecturer at the University of Lincoln (https://staff.lincoln.ac.uk/7d02e3ce-405e-4286-82e4-4237092a426d) and Bishop Grosseteste University (https://www.bgu.ac.uk/staff/dr-tariqul-islam).
